The Brewster Board of Education accepted Henning-Piedmonte’s resignation effective July 31, 2019.

Henning-Piedmonte has been in education for 25 years.

She came to the Brewster district during the 2013-2014 year as assistant superintendent for curriculum, instruction and assessment and was promoted to deputy superintendent.

In August 2016, Henning-Piedmonte was appointed by the school board as the district's superintendent.

Opposition against her mounted this year when it was disclosed that Henning-Piedmonte was paid $4,923 for five unused vacation days, as reported here by Daily Voice.

The next day, Henning-Piedmonte announced she would return the vacation pay and that she and other school administrators would freeze their salaries and contribute more to their health insurance.

Nonetheless, as reported here, Brewster's first proposed budget failed on May 15.  The second budget proposal passed on June 19, as reported here by Daily Voice.

During Henning-Piedmonte's tenure, the school district implemented a strategic coherence plan -- a 21st century blueprint for the school system, adopted the Teachers College Reading and Writing Workshop in grades K-5 as the ELA curriculum and the Project Lead the Way STEM curriculum, and implemented one-on-one chromebooks.

The embattled superintendent also oversaw completion of a $39 million construction project and helped create the Brewster Community Learning Center.
